Overview
SNS Feed Text Extractor ("the Extension") is a browser extension that extracts text content from social media feeds. This policy explains how the Extension handles user data.
Data We Collect
The Extension collects and processes the following data:
- Feed text content: The Extension reads text displayed on supported social media pages (X/Twitter, Threads, Reddit, Quora) when you click the "Extract" button. This data is processed entirely within your browser and copied to your clipboard. It is never transmitted to any external server.
- Extension settings: Your preferences (toggle states, extraction limits) are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. This data never leaves your device.
- Email address (optional): If you choose to subscribe to updates via the welcome page, your email address is stored in our database (hosted on Supabase). This is used solely to send product updates and can be removed upon request.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect browsing history or web browsing activity beyond the extraction action you initiate.
- We do not collect personally identifiable information from the social media content you extract.
- We do not use cookies or tracking pixels.
- We do not collect analytics or usage telemetry.
- We do not access your social media credentials or account information.
How Data Is Used
Extracted text is processed locally in your browser and copied to your clipboard. No extracted content is transmitted to our servers or any third party. The Extension does not store extracted content beyond the current browser session (results are cached locally for up to one hour for convenience).
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or transfer your data to any third parties. If you provide your email address, it is stored securely and used only for the purpose stated above.
Data Retention & Deletion
- Local data: Cleared when you uninstall the Extension or clear your browser data.
- Email: If you subscribed to updates, you may request deletion of your email at any time by contacting us at the address below.
Permissions
The Extension requests the following permissions:
- activeTab: To access the content of the active tab when you click the Extract button.
- clipboardWrite: To copy extracted text to your clipboard.
- storage: To save your preferences and cache recent results locally.
- Host permissions (x.com, twitter.com, threads.net, threads.com, quora.com, reddit.com): To run the content script on supported platforms only.
Each permission is used solely for the described purpose. No additional data is collected through these permissions.
Security
All data processing occurs locally in your browser. If you choose to provide your email, the transmission is encrypted via HTTPS.
Children's Privacy
The Extension is not directed at individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the Extension's update notes.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, the Extension's use of data obtained through Chrome APIs is limited to providing or improving the Extension's user-facing features. The data is not:
- Transferred or sold to third parties
- Used for advertising or personalized content
- Used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes
